The Monday Morning Writers Group
Home to the Midwest Writing Community

The Monday Morning Writers Group supports writers who live between the two coasts, far from ready access to the New York and California hubs of the publishing world.

If ever you, the Midwestern writer, have felt that all the action occurs on the coasts, you are in the right place. Join us and we will grow together.

In numbers, we can become a force to support each other in the central region of the United States.

Our Purpose

  • Nationally

  • To put the Midwest on the publishing map. To serve Midwestern writers who are self-published, or mainstream published but inadequately supported by their coast-based publisher

  • Locally

  • Locally, we create opportunities for our Cincinnati members -- the Mumwugs, for short -- to share excerpts of their work, gather feedback, and move writing ideas into income-producing print by addressing the mechanics of the writing profession. We see all of our members in viable careers as writers.

Invitation

The Monday Morning Writers Group was established in January of 2003. Our membership currently embraces about seventy writers, one third of whom attend Monday sessions regularly. Others drop in as employment or travel permits.

If you are near Cincinnati, we extend an invitation to you to join us at Joseph-Beth Bookstore on Mondays at 9:30. If you are not, sign up for our e-zine and we will send you breaking news about the Midwest writing scene.

We sometimes offer workshops for writers who wish to become more computer-savvy. One such free workshop occurred August 9, 2010 in conjunction with the Art Institute of Cincinnati (who provided a room, equipment, and even creature comforts to our membership). We are grateful. Presenters were Aaron Tysen and Jeannette Ramirez.
